About the Speakers:

Professor Joel Litman is Chairman and CEO of Valens Research and the Founder of FA Alpha, the flagship membership community for Financial Advisors.

Professor Litman’s publications and research are read by tens of thousands every week. For thirty years, he has been a trusted advisor to management teams and institutional, family, and individual investors. 

With global demand for his work in investing and strategic analysis, Professor Litman has lectured and advised at Harvard Business School and London Business School, for the Pentagon and FBI, and for investment teams and corporations from New York to Frankfurt to Beijing.

He has been interviewed on CNBC, quoted in Barron’s Magazine and Institutional Investor, and is a regular contributor to Forbes. He published “Give My Regrets to Wall Street” in Harvard Business Review. Professor Litman co-authored the highly-acclaimed book, DRIVEN: Business Strategy, Human Actions, and the Creation of Wealth.

As Chairman of the UAFRS Council, Professor Litman has spearheaded the global use of Uniform Accounting and financial analysis. He has patented and holds intellectual property in macroeconomic analysis, equity and credit research, and deep forensic financial analysis, utilized by more than 230 of the 300 world’s largest investment managers. 

Professor Litman is a member of the CFA Institute, the global association for investment professionals, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He is a CPA (Certified Public Accountant), received a B.S. in Accounting from DePaul University, and an MBA/MM from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.

Dr. Mark L. Frigo, PhD, CPA, CMA, CGMA served as a full-time tenured faculty member at DePaul University in Chicago since 1980 with various administrative appointments in the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business and Driehaus College of Business. 

He is founding Director of the Center for Strategy, Execution and Valuation and the Strategic Risk Management Lab in the Kellstadt Graduate School of Business at DePaul University where he directs ongoing research on strategic valuation and strategic risk management at high performing companies using state-of-the-art financial metrics and analytics.  

Author of seven books and over 145 articles, his work is published in leading business journals including Harvard Business Review.  Dr. Frigo is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Management Accountant (CMA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) and holds a Ph.D. in Econometrics.  He is co-author of the book DRIVEN: Business Strategy, Human Actions and the Creation of Wealth (with Joel Litman) which is used by executive teams and boards of directors to drive superior and sustainable value creating performance and a forthcoming book DRIVEN STRATEGY: Creating Greater Long-Term Sustainable Value.   

His professional career included working as a financial analyst in corporate mergers and acquisitions, corporate strategic planning, litigation support, banking and management consulting in strategic services at KPMG.  

He also serves on the Board of Directors of Keeper Security, Inc. a leading cybersecurity software company and serves on the Advisory Boards of startups and advises Boards of Directors and Executive Team in the areas of strategic valuation and strategic risk management.  His clients included PwC, Deloitte, Abbott Laboratories, AbbVie, Kraft Foods, Caterpillar, CNA Insurance, Cisco Systems, Juniper Networks, Oracle, Collins Aerospace, Amkor, Grant Thornton, Driscoll’s, Motorola, Caterpillar, Ingredion, United Nations agencies in Geneva, Switzerland and other leading organizations.
