Paralaya is a Kapampangan word which means “upstream” or “towards the direction of Mount Arayat.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a disruption in the economic sector of the Philippines. This series of five webinars delves into how students and small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs) can learn from how businesses and specific industries such as finance, accounting, marketing, advertising have adapted to the new normal by reconfiguring their operations and making use of digital tools and platforms. The objective of Paralaya is to enlighten students, and small and mid-size enterprises (SMEs) on how various business functions can adjust and respond to the new normal.

A lot of individuals, especially business owners would say that their operations are affected by the current situation. It is an endless cycle that we must take an initiative against in order to prepare a new generation that can deliver a better tomorrow for our country. We also formed this collaborative project to strengthen the bond and devote time and effort in helping SMEs pass through this pandemic. These webinars will be conducted for 5 days with different topics for each, with the goal of enlightening students and businesses to the new normal. The webinars will cover topics concerning the courses of PROBE organizations.

Prof. Joel Litman, President and CEO of Valens Research will be one of the speakers for Day 2 of the webinar series.

Paralaya’s second webinar will tackle various finance-related topics such as stocks, the foreign exchange market, and more. It aims to teach people new ways of properly investing and using their funds, and how to have a proper mindset when thinking about risk management.
