The Guru Marketing Program is designed for independents to leverage the skills, tools, and available systems that help build personal influence and a strong independent brand. This highly interactive program—built to focus on individual needs & outcomes—develops skills around key areas of brand development including social media optimization, independent community networking, existing systems (e.g. Marketplace), and strategic brand management. 

The program has been designed by some of the most successful independents today and includes the feedback of hundreds of successful independents who have built incredibly strong brands. Program outcomes for the one-day session include:

  • Analyzing and applying Sales/Marketing tactics to build the business as an Independent Professional
  • Confidently building a personal brand as an Independent Professional via Social Media
  • Confidently applying strategic networking tactics and approaches
  • Introducing and exploring the existing systems and resources for Independents

About the Speakers:

Dr. Emmett P. Tracy is faculty of Management and Business Administration and Dean at Emory & Henry College in Emory, Virginia.

Prior to founding The I Institute, Dr. Tracy worked extensively in global higher education in business, serving as Dean at the African Leadership University School of Business (ALUSB) in Kigali, Rwanda and Dean of Graduate Programs at Hult International Business School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At Hult, Dr. Tracy also served as Programme Dean for the Finance Programme and Chair of the Finance Curriculum Committee.

Dr. Tracy has pioneered strategic and operational improvements in the IT, Real Estate and Education sectors. Outside of Academia, Dr. Tracy has held the positions of CEO at a machine-learning platform, Finance and Strategy Consultant at a real estate holding company in New York City, and Advisory Council Member on Uniform Adjusted Financial Reporting Standards. His focus on practical, data-driven engagements with international corporate partners has created numerous opportunities with and for Fortune 500 companies.

In 2020, Dr. Tracy founded The I Institute, with the vision of challenging the traditional to embrace the new world of work. Through his role as President, Dr. Tracy works to develop and support independent professionals, progressive enterprises, and leaders of tomorrow to seek greater profitability, efficiency and fulfillment.

Dr. Tracy received his BA from Williams College, PhD from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland and MBA from INSEAD, France. 

Professor Joel Litman has taught or guest-lectured at Harvard Business School, U Chicago Booth, Wharton, LBS, SAIF Jiao Tong, and others. He is a Professor at Hult International Business School, an FT and Economist top-ranked international MBA program. He conducts seminars regularly for financial and industry conferences around the world such as CFA and CPA chapters.

Outside of academia, Professor Litman is the President and CEO of Valens Research, a global corporate performance and investment research and analytics firm. In the role of Chief Investment Strategist, he advises institutional investors in equities, corporate credit, and macroeconomic strategy.

Professor Litman is Chair of the UAFRS Advisory Council which is spearheading usage of Uniform Adjusted Financial Reporting Standards aka Uniform Accounting. He helped build Credit Suisse’s HOLT University and the Center for S.E.V. and MBA Concentration at the Driehaus College of Commerce at DePaul University.

Professor Litman received a B.S. in Accounting from DePaul University and an MBA/MM from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
