Play Your World Through TikTok: How this clothing brand became a social media sensation! [Every Thursday: FYO!]

June 4, 2020

Social media is now one of the most important digital platforms.

You can now connect with people and share content anywhere you go!

Social media is also one of the best marketing tools today.

With the ability to connect with millions across the world, one brand used this to their advantage.

UNIQLO

With over 10,000 stores in 18 countries, this Japanese brand became one of the world’s largest clothing retailers.

Part of Uniqlo’s success is attributed to their impressive marketing campaigns.

From collaborating with famous brands, designers, and celebrities, to creating global brand campaigns, Uniqlo’s style and collections have gained worldwide appeal!

Uniqlo is also a brand that knows how to take advantage of the digital space with the right mix of traditional marketing strategies.

A really good example is when they launched a campaign in 2019 called…

#UTPlayYourWorld

Unlike other campaigns, this one puts a spotlight on their consumers.

They were also one of the first brands to use TikTok as a marketing tool.

TikTok is a platform that allows users to post short videos.

Singing, dancing, lip-syncing, challenges, pranks, comedy, you name it—videos on almost anything are there!

As of April 2020, there are over 800 million active users on TikTok worldwide!

This makes it an ideal platform for Uniqlo to take advantage of.

This digital marketing campaign encourages users to wear their favorite Uniqlo products and dance to the originally made #UTPlayYourWorld song!

Uniqlo is all about creating clothes that allow people to express themselves.

And what better way to do this by posting dance and music videos?!

Not only was the hashtag #UTPlayYourWorld trending on TikTok but the videos also became viral sensations themselves!

In less than a month, the video entries received a total of 709.8 million views on TikTok!

These entries include videos from regular consumers, including celebrities and influencers!

Uniqlo became a more popular brand globally with the help of their consumers.

This example shows us how powerful social media is at promoting brands online.

USER-GENERATED MARKETING

This marketing strategy encourages consumers to promote the brands they support.

Thanks to social media, people sharing things they enjoy or like has become so much easier.

Users can post about a brand on platforms like TikTok, Facebook, and Instagram.

This creates a chain of events of sharing and posting. That’s FREE ONLINE PROMOTION.

A lot more people can even discover a brand they haven’t heard of because of this.

One person sharing a product or something about a brand can reach hundreds, thousands, and even millions of people!

Your brand might just go viral! And you barely had to lift a finger.

Social media became an important part of digital marketing and SEO.

Nowadays, almost every major brand has a social media profile or page to connect with their consumers.

Take note that it’s also important to know which platform is appropriate for your target market and provides the most reach.

Know your audience. Determine the best ways to engage with them online and help your brand grow.

Like Uniqlo, you too can use the largest digital platforms to take your brand to the next level!

Try giving it a shot. 😉

About The Dynamic Marketing Communiqué’s
“Thursdays: FYO! Find You Optimization”

Why should you stop thinking SEO and start thinking FYO?

We’re not saying that you should abandon Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

Don’t get us wrong, of course, we know this is something very important, especially in today’s digital marketing age.

The internet landscape is vast, and a world of its own. You really need to distinguish yourself and make your brand/company/website known and easily searchable.

Better yet, get to the top of page one for Top Results on Google or any other search engine.

However, what is the purpose of SEO? It’s that customers Find You!

That’s what matters. So, while SEO is one factor of FYO… it really is only one, and we ought not to abandon all the myriad of ways digitally and offline for improving your FYO.

How can we look at this from a different and better perspective?

Let’s say you have it in the bag! You and your team are experts in SEO. Awesome. But did you ever wonder what else you could do to push it further and give your SEO skills a boost?

FYO! Find You Optimization!

You need your target audience to FIND YOU—your brand, product, service, or offer. This is SEO plus other tools that increase visibility online (and offline).

Every Thursday, we publish content on how you can get your target market to find you, beyond the typical “type and search.” There are other things you can do along with your SEO to give your online advertising process a boost.

Try considering other tactics beyond it—WOMO (Word Of Mouth Optimization), RO (Referral Optimization), and “All-Other-Means-Of-Getting-Your-Target-Market-To-Find-You” Optimization (AOMOGYTMTFY, if you’d like a long acronym).

Part of a great marketing strategy is knowing how to adapt new methods and make use of different types of marketing and promotion that best fit your business goals and which give you the results you want.

Hope you’ve found this week’s insights interesting and helpful.

Stay tuned for next Thursday’s FYO!

Cheers,
