Rohan Soorabathula is currently a fourth-year undergraduate student at Northeastern University in Boston where he studies Finance and Accounting. He also serves as a Senior Analyst for the Northeastern University Student Value Fund organization.

Between June and August this year, he’ll be starting an Investment Banking Summer Analyst role at Macquarie Capital in New York City. He considers this as an opportunity for him to learn about being an Investment Banking Analyst.

Rohan spent six months at Valens as an Analyst in the Cambridge office between January to June 2018. On a daily basis, his main role was to produce four EEAs and one credit report for use in investment decision-making for the clients. In addition, he also performed cash flow analysis after adjusting the financial statements of public companies to understand the true operational strength of a company after removing distortions found under GAAP and IFRS.

As a student, Rohan wants to learn more about the extensive world of Finance. Going into his summer analyst role at Macquarie, he would like to take advantage of the fact that he will be working at a large bank to learn as much as he can about investment banking overall, and the skills that are required to be successful in the field. He hopes to pursue a similar career path after his graduation.

One of the most interesting things to know about Rohan is his love and passion for music. He started playing the guitar when he was about ten years old, and he hasn’t stopped listening to rock music since then. While he started on the electric guitar, he slowly transitioned more into playing acoustic music. He constantly writes down lyrical ideas and records his own brief melodies whenever he can. Because of some priorities that he has in his life now, he doesn’t have as much time to dedicate to playing the guitar anymore.

The passion for music is definitely something he wants to get back in the future.
